Route Overview - Find Yourself In Nature!

We will commence our adventure in the picturesque hamlet of Wasdale Head, surrounded by the towering peaks of the Lake District. We will then take on the challenging ascent to the summit of Great Gable, one of the region's most iconic peaks. The trail leads through rocky terrain and meandering paths, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding fells. When we reach the summit you will have the opportunity to revel in the panoramic views that stretch across the Lake District. The rugged beauty of the landscape unfolds in all directions, providing a truly awe-inspiring vantage point.  

Then we will descend from the summit to the Emerald Pools, a series of enchanting mountain tarns nestled in a tranquil setting. The descent offers a mix of rocky trails and open moorland, providing diverse scenery along the way. For those seeking an adventurous twist, indulge in an optional wild swim in the crystal-clear waters. The pools offer a refreshing respite amidst the natural beauty of the Lake District. We then complete the loop by retracing your steps back to Wasdale Head. The descent provides additional opportunities to soak in the stunning landscapes and relish the sense of accomplishment from conquering Great Gable.

Terrain and Difficulty:

The hike involves challenging terrain, particularly during the ascent to Great Gable, with rocky paths and steep gradients. Hikers should have a good level of fitness and be prepared for variable weather conditions.
