About the event

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is a classic endurance hike taking on Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough in a continuous loop, covering roughly 24 miles with over 1,500m of ascent. It’s known across the UK as a test of fitness, resilience, and mental grit... but also as one of the most rewarding single-day challenges you can take on. Starting at the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct, the goal is simple: complete all three summits in under 12 hours, working as a team and pushing your limits in a supportive environment.

People join this challenge for different reasons: some want a physical goal to train for, others want a shared adventure with friends, and many simply want to prove to themselves that they can conquer something tough. It’s the perfect blend of personal achievement and group camaraderie, a day where everyone encourages each other, celebrates milestones together, and experiences the incredible landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales in a way most never do. For anyone looking to build confidence, improve fitness, or tick off a bucket-list summit challenge, this is a standout experience.

Throughout the day, you can expect varied terrain, steady climbs, long ridge lines, and breathtaking views that unfold as you progress from one peak to the next. The pace is structured but manageable, with planned breaks, route guidance, and group support ensuring nobody feels rushed or left behind. By the time the final summit is behind you and the viaduct comes back into view, you’ll feel a deep mix of exhaustion, pride, and accomplishment, the exact reasons people return to this challenge year after year. The goal of the day is to summit Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m), completing the full circuit in under 12 hours. With a total climb of 1,585m, it’s a serious test of stamina and determination, a challenge that demands respect. It’s an incredible achievement for anyone who takes it on, and for many, it becomes one of the toughest yet most memorable endurance days they’ll ever complete. Throughout the challenge, our team will be with you at every stage, offering steady support, clear guidance, and motivation when you need it most. We’ll run several checkpoints across the route to track progress and make sure everyone is managing well. These stops also give you a chance to refuel, grab snacks and water, and regroup before the next section. If you bring your own packed lunch, you won’t need to carry it all day, our support crew can hold onto it and have it ready for you at any checkpoint you choose. The aim is to make the logistics as smooth as possible so you can focus on the experience, the scenery, and the satisfaction of taking on this classic Three Peaks challenge.
